    help with editing links

I have Windows 7 - I have a master excel sheet that is linked to another workbook. I need to use a new one(both) each month. When I copy them onto my desktop and change the names - I have attempted to edit the link to the new one.

example wkbk 1 is multiple columns of info
wkbk 2 is link to it just to get some of the days totals

when I change wkbk 1 from MASTER - to- MAY and try to edit the link for wkbk 2 - I "change source" to MAY - "update value" -- "break link " with master and close but the formulas still show it is linked to master ??? I hope I have explained it clear enough - I have 4 stores and need to do this for each - each month and manually linking each day is something I would rather not do. Thank you in advance for any help

    Re: help with editing links

    Hi

You can achieve this by using the indirect function and a separate cell with the sheet name.

    For example
Please Login or Register to view this content.
This would link you to Cell A1 in the workbook whose name is in cell D1 of the linked sheet, you then have only to change one cell to update all links.

    Regards

    Jeff
