help required in If ...Then formula

    Hello,

Friends i need to know what formula will i put to handle stock and sales.
Being specific: I want to give a condition in cell, that if new stock is added today so it should be added in previous stock, then check what is the sales of the week and subtract the total sales from the total stock. if no sales just write latest stock in current stock.

    Similary,
IF there is sales in this week, it adds up to total sales and apply discount, if no sales then sales cell should remain zero.

How will i apply If ... Then... formula in both conditions

    Thanks in advance

Hello, if you are after a formula you can use in your workbook, it would be best to show us the structure of the workbook. You can replace confidential data with dummy data, but it will be helpful to know how your workbook is laid out, so ....

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

I may be over simplifying this (or reading it wrong, in which case teylyn's suggestion of attaching a sample workbook would be a great idea), however, why don't you just have the cell under Current Stock to equal New Stock, plus Previous Stock, minus Sold Stock - no IF statement required.

I have attached an example for you. I have taken this one step further and put the Current Stock into the next day's Previous Stock. I have also added IF statements so the calculations only appear if the date in the Date column is a date before today (i.e. the formula won't show values for future dates).

Let me know if this is along the lines of what you're after.
