# set the precision value of cell as displayed value

1. ## set the precision value of cell as displayed value

I entered '=15/7 ' in cell 'A1' and answer was 2.142857143
Then I decreased the number of decimal places to 2. ( that means 2.14 )
I entered '5' in cell 'B1'
Then 'A1' cell multiply by 'B2' cell .
Then I decreased the number of decimal places to 2. ( that means 10.71)
but, simply 2.14 * 5 = 10.70
That means Excel use actual value in the cell (2.142857143) for calculation instead of 2.14
I like to know how to use the number, that appears in cell (2.14) to calculation ??
( without using ROUND function).

Thank you.

2. ## Re: set decimal places

Try setting 'Set precision as displayed' under options.
