What is Null?

Sorry to ask again but I'm confused.

If (Range("M1").Value = Null)

This code always seems to be true, even though the Cell is blank. The same is true for the following codes.

If Range("M1") = Null
If Range("M1") = ""
If Range("M1").value = ""

Is there a way for me to go about this code properly?
