Question [keyboard shortcut] jump to last cell in column

Hi folks. I have gone back and forth in the program help, but can't find the answer.

I have Excel 2002 (Office XP) and
need keyboard shortcuts to jump (with or without selecting, preferably both) ...

    (1) ... to last cell in current column
    (2) ... to last cell in current row
    (3) ... to 1st cell in current column
    (4) ... to 1st cell in current row (*solved*)

    Can anybody help me, please?
    Thank you so much

Have you tried the inbuilt "find first/last" Keys?

Try Ctrl+ the Arrow Key for the direction you need to navigate.

See this link Excel shortcut and function keys

    Key Description
ARROW KEYS Move one cell up, down, left, or right in a worksheet.

CTRL+ARROW KEY moves to the edge of the current data region (data region: A range of cells that contains data and that is bounded by empty cells or datasheet borders.) in a worksheet.

SHIFT+ARROW KEY extends the selection of cells by one cell.

CTRL+SHIFT+ARROW KEY extends the selection of cells to the last nonblank cell in the same column or row as the active cell.

LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW selects the menu to the left or right when a menu is visible. When a submenu is open, these arrow keys switch between the main menu and the submenu.

DOWN ARROW or UP ARROW selects the next or previous command when a menu or submenu is open.

In a dialog box, arrow keys move between options in an open drop-down list, or between options in a group of options.

    ALT+DOWN ARROW opens a selected drop-down list.

if you are talking about home/pos1 and end keys, then yes. You are right. Home/Pos1 jumps to first cell in current row. So I marked this solved in OP. Ok, 3 to go. The end key does nothing for me AFAICS.

The other shortcuts you posted don't jump to last/first cell in column/row either unfortunately.

Re: [keyboard shortcut] jump to last cell in column

If there are any blank cells with a row or column, none of the shortcut method will jump to the real last cell in the row/column.

Short of VBA, there is no other built-in method to find the last cell, AFAIK.

As an alternate to the short cut keys, you may also double-click the left/right/top/bottom border of the cell pointer to jump to the edges of the current data region

If you want to use code, then put this in the worksheet module.
Double-clicking a cell will move the cell pointer to the last column on the active row
Right-clicking will move to the last row in the active column.

The code, as written, does NOT specify a target range for these events. The down side is that both double-click and right-click actions are cancelled.
The code can be revised so that it "fires" only when the active cell is in a designated range of cells.

To answer: (2) ... to last cell in current row

You have to put Excel into "End" mode. Press the "End" key and note in the "Status bar" that "End Mode" is shown. While in "End Mode" press the "Return" or "Enter" key, to go to the last cell in the current row.
