    Returning the most recent values

    Good day to you all,

What would be the simplest way to display the following?

Say I have an assorted list of scores in one column (column A – person name, column B – score) and I would like to return the sum of the last two (or three, four, five etc) scores for each person (bottom of the list is the most recent):

    Andrew 50
    Carol 20
    Ellen 10
    Ben 10
    Derek 45
    Fiona 52
    Ben 70
    Derek 51
    Fiona 61
    Ben 21
    Derek 81
    Fiona 20
    Andrew 90
    Carol 43
    Ellen 35
    Ben 20

eg. In Columns C & D would display:

    Andrew 140
    Ben 41
    Carol 63

    and so on...

    Thank you

    Ks

Re: Returning the most recent values

Assuming your list is begins at A2, and you have a unique list of names beginning in C2 (you can get this with Data|Filter|Advance Filter), then in D2 enter formula:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
adjust ranges to suit, and confirmed with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER not just ENTER and copy down

This sums last 2 occurances, change the last 2 before the $B$2:$B$17 to the quantity you want to sum of occurances.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
