How to get Excel File Save History?

    Hi,

Is there a way to get the file save history for a given excel file which has been saved and updated many times till now? By file save history, I mean the date and time a particular excel file was changed or modified and then saved.

The file I am dealing with and want to find the file save history is not having the track changes enabled in the file.

Do we have a tool available to get this save history of the excel file or for that matter any kind of file?

Re: How to get Excel File Save History?

Sorry, I am a bit late in this topic. For the others looking for Version History solution for Excel, I would like to recommend our XLTools Version Control Add-in for Excel. Of course, It would not let you to recover the whole history for the file you already saved many times. I am pretty sure there is no solution for such case. But you can install our add-in and Enable Version History for particular document, so all future changes would be automatically keeped for you. You can also add description to each revision of the document, so you and your collegues can get more sense about the history of changes for the particular Excel document.

For more information, please read this article: http://xltools.net/excel-version-control/
