how to use 'x' boxes and select values

    Hi

I have used excel spreadsheets for very basic calculations (+,-,x and /, %ages etc) so I am new and would like to ask a beginers question:

How do I use 'x' boxes to select values - for example, if I have a list of foods with nutritional data, rather than copying the rows of data into another sheet can I put a 'x' box beside it and select the data that way?

also, I have foods listed from a to z and when i select a food i need the data to appear on another worksheet - how is this done? E.g. in my 'm' list i select mustard (by ticking the box) and need the data to apear on a food log which will be on a separate sheet - kcals, fat, carbs etc

    any help appreciated

    thanks in advance

    Andy

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum,

I believe you could simply put a column next to your food data and simply put an X in this column to show this food is part of the whole.

What you really need to do is show us a sample workbook with your data. You then need to attach that sample file to a message so we can see what you already have.

To attache a sample file, Click on "Go Advanced" below this message and then on the Paper Clip Icon above the advanced message area.

this is the attachment you asked for

at the moment I have my foods listed a-z with nutritional data. the 'LOG' worksheet is where no. of calories is to apear, once i can do that i can calculate fat percentages etc

in the a-z of foods i want to be able to select the data with a 'x' (in a box?)

sorry - it's the last 5 columns i'm after in the a-z's. I haven't put the headings in yet! ie. kcals, carbs, fat etc

I've updated the workbook so it makes a little more sense - the nutritional data is now itemised by column
