    Re: Debit credit formulas

It seems you custom formatted the Debit cells as: ""0.00" Dr" and the Credit cells as ""0.00" Cr"
Where there is a will there are many ways.

They are not formula, they are formats.

Right click any cell and select Format Cells and then go to the Number tab.. you will see the chosen format is custom and the type is as mentioned above.

    Re: Debit credit formulas

See i understand that we have that format here but if I have to change it to a format where it will show me that the one in CR is (-) and one in + is a debit. the situation is I cant sort it or filter it as debits and credits with the current format. How do I change them into a format where I can work on the file

    Re: Debit credit formulas

As it stands you cannot sort by credit/debit.

What you will need to do is go to all the ones that are supposed to be Debits and enter a - in front of the number.

Then select the whole range and go to Format Cells and custom format as:

    0.00 " Cr";0.00 " Dr"

then you will be able to sort...

    Re: Debit credit formulas

I think someone will have to come up with a VBA macro to do it for you (I am not a VBA expert).. as I don't think there is a way in native Excel to determine which of the 2 formats you have and to change the CR to -ve.....
