Click on a blank cell to auto add today's date

    Hi,

I'm doing this spreadsheet for work and want to know what is the easiest way to click on a blank cell and today date and time automatically populates the cell. So 'column A' will have a heading called 'date' and when ever anyone clicks on any cells in column A I want it to automatically fill the cell with the current date.

    Really appreciate any help.

    Cheers

    DK

    Hi DK
Are you really sure you want to do this? It will mean you can’t enter anything but a date in that column.

    If you’re sure
    • Right click on the sheet’s name tab at the bottom of the page
    • Select view code
    • Select ‘Worksheet’ From the left drop-down menu at the top of the page, and ‘SelectionChange’ from the right menu. This should automatically set up a private sub for you
    • Type in the date change code so your macro looks like this:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
return to the sheet, and it should inset the date and time whenver you click in the first column
