Can I run a macro on dropdown list to select values?

    Hello,

I'm looking to improve the sheet in attachment and I learned quite a bit on my own, but now I'm stuck. So I'm calling out for help!
The sheet I've created has to provide me with a cause and solution whenever I select an error.

    It works as follows:

The cell A2 has to return a dropdown list, depending on which "direction" I need. I used an indirect formula (linked with cell E2)
Whenever I select a value from the dropdown list, another Indirect formula has to populate cell B2 and so on.
What I'd like to know is if I can create a macro to select the cause of error and action from the drop down list returned in cell C2 & D2

Or if another solution exists since I'm not sure the macro will work.

    Help? Please?

    Krgds,
    A newby with a headache...

    hi Meli1986,
    Welcome to the forum
Hard to say. Do a forum search on cascading validation list. I think its what you want

    Hi Meli,

If i understood your problem correctly, what you want is if you select a Keyword in cell A2 then it should show the Log messages which are related to Keyword in A2 only and so on.

You can do this without Macro also, but you have to arrange the validation list in a proper format.

Use the combination of Offset and Match function.

let me know if u want further help.

    Hi Paddy,

well actually it already gives me the values that are related with the keyword.
See example -> address in the attachment I gave.
It will give me several related log messages in cell B2 and then the only match possible in Cell C2 & D2. Only problem is that the value in C2&D2 aren't automatically selected, while only 1 cause & solution possible.
Since the list can be veeeeeeerrrryyyy long I want it do be done automatically and I don't want to waste my time by clicking on each dropdown list to show the value.

    Melissa
