    Locking rows for sorting

Is there a way to lock a row of cells together eg A1,B1,C1 etc so that when you alphabetically sort column A the cells in column B will stay next to the cells in A they were originally next to.

In other words i am doing accounts and column A has the dates in it and then column B and C profit/loss and D a description. I want to be able to sort them by date but obviously keep the dates next to the correct entry.

    Many THanks

    Paddy

    Hi Paddy,

I believe sorting on selected column rather sorting with whole data, would do the task here.
If not, try uploading the sample data to give a quick try. Thanks.

Hi Paddyscott82 and welcome to the forum,

Read http://contextures.com/xlExcelTable01.html to understand what an Excel TABLE is and how it works. Instead of sorting a single column (as dellipandy suggests) you need to use the entire table to sort, keeping the row values together.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
