    Can't erase small black dots

Using Excel 2011 for Mac. Searched the internet, and can't see to find a way to erase these points. They appear to be graphics. I can pull them out to form lines, but when I try to drag them from the cell, they duplicate and remain in the original cell. I've tried clear all, and delete as well. Can't seem to get rid of them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The do look like a shape that has been reduced to no width.
Does the mac version have a selection pane where you can see all the graphic items on a sheet. I'm wondering if you have many 'hidden' shapes.

Also how about CTRL+G > Special > Objects. Does that select a bunch of those dots?
    Cheers

Thank you, Andy. Worked perfectly. Don't know why or how these objects were hidden, but they were. Once I was able to select them with " CTRL+G > Special > Objects" deleting them was no problem.
