Question I only need 6 columns ... how do I get rid of the rest when 'delete' doesn't work??

Total newbie to Exel but have used Appleworks Spreadsheets for years. I can't find how to make my Exel worksheets only have 6 columns and not hundreds!! I used to just put in I want 6 column and (say) 250 rows.... it must be in Exel somewhere but I can't find it, nor anything about it in 'Help'. Be grateful of assistance before I throw the Mac through the wall.

You'll need to hide the columns you don't want.

Select them all, and then from the Home ribbon menu cells group over on the right select Format, Hide & Unhide, Hide Columns.

There is a macro way but since you're a self declared newbie I won't burden you with that.
