    Question Automate Manual Reporting

I have recently been tasked with some monthly reporting that I am able to perform through a lot of manual manipulation through Excel. I'm looking for an easier way but I've only ever done simple tasks with Excel before so I'm not sure where to even start. I am using a tool to look at hourly bandwidth utilization and then dumping the data to Excel. What I end up with is two columns - the first column has each hour of each day of the month. The second column has the peak value. For example...

    2/1/12 1:00 14
    2/1/12 2:00 35
    2/1/12 3:00 18
    ... ...
    2/29/12 22:00 16
    2/29/12 23:00 22

I would like to have a third and fourth column populated where the third column is just a single entry for each day of the month and the fourth column contains the highest peak number for that day from the 24 entries for that day in column two. So using the example above, it would look like this -

    2/1/12 35
    ... ...
    2/29/12 22

I have done this manually, but I'm sure an Excel guru can come up with an automated method. In advance, thanks for your help!

You can probably change it to "Automate manual reporting".
