# IF function problem

1. ## IF function problem

I hope this isn't a second posting of this. 1st one said not logged in.

I want to compare two columns of information with two other columns of supposedly the same information to determine where/if they differ

I've used the "If" function to compare two columns of information row by row with the formula =if(A3=A6,"Y","N") in cell C3.

Can you advise how to modify the formula to compare two columns with two other columns such as =if(A3=A6 & A4=A7,"Y","N") I know that doesn't work
I 'm sure there's a more efficient way but that's my level at present.

Try =if(and(a3=a6,a4=a7),"Y","N")  Register To Reply

If you have multiple conditions that you want met at the same time, then in your case:

=IF(AND(A3=A6,A4=A7),"Y","N")

If it is enough that just one of the 2 conditions are met, then you replace the AND() with OR(). Register To Reply
