Separate data from a specific output ?

    Hello,

I'm having hard times trying to find out a way where from a specific output (.CSV file) excel looks on it after specific predefined conditions and forms the final result in the way you want it...

With a simple example it would be easier to understand.

Every day I have specific amount of consumers for 2 different products. Products are divided in 2 general groups (fruits/vegetables AND others)

I have a report that shows me every day the total amount of consumers of each product, if the product was consumed on that specific day.
But they result is not in the form I need it.

I need it separately for each general group , on a different sheet.

    Example form is attached.

Would be nice, if someone could help me with this

Noone is able to assist here?!

It should be something connected to the VLOOKUP function I guess...

You can import CSV files into your workbook.

    Let's see if I understand...

    1) Pull the CSV into the workbook (somehow; cut/paste, importing, whatever)
    2) Compare each item to a column with categories of "Fruits or Vegetables" or "Others"
    3) Split it into a report for each of those items
    4) Rebuild each day

So, there are a few questions I have:
    1) How do you tell which data is on which day? Where does day of the week come into this?
    2) It would probably be easier to do a helper column that looks up those categories and picks the one for each row line, rather than trying to, like, sort one worksheet through a column on a second worksheet to a report on a third worksheet.
    3) Have you tried pivot tables?

    Hi ben_hensel,

    You understand correct...

With regards to the questions you have, below highlighted are the answers:

    1) How do you tell which data is on which day? Where does day of the week come into this?

I have to do this every day, so the idea is to have it for each day, to be more precised - every day I am pulling out the results from the previous day and this is done every single day, on a daily basis. For example - let's say today is Monday, I have the CSV file for yesterday(Sunday in this case) ans so on. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I'll do the same thing, but with today's results (those from Monday). Hope it's clear enough..

    2) It would probably be easier to do a helper column that looks up those categories and picks the one for each row line, rather than trying to, like, sort one worksheet through a column on a second worksheet to a report on a third worksheet.

This is also an option, if I got you correct - to have a helper column on the same worksheet; also to have the separated results are on the same sheet - this will do the work as weel (if you think this would be easier), all I need is to have them separated according to the mentioned criteria...

    3) Have you tried pivot tables?

    Actually I didn't.

    Many thanks in advance!
