Using Countif after filtering data.

I want to filter my data (for example filter the fruit column for 'apples') and then using the results displayed, count the number of times that a location (for example Ontario) shows up just for 'apples'. I've attached a basic example. Note, I do know how to filter, I just don't know how to use the countif formula properly after the data has been filtered. Maybe I've chosen the wrong formula to use? thx
