Count occurrences of text with various criteria

Hello everyone,

I need to count occurrences of text in relation to two columns, ie:

Column A has the names of all companies present in the municipalities of column B, but the criterion should be the column C, with counties already filtered.

The result I seek is: how many companies there are in each municipality (count only once each company in each city).

I do not know what function to use, help!

Hi

Your file is a bit to large 4.51MB can you upload a sample file to this site, the response will be a lot better.

To Attach a File:

1. Click on Go Advanced
2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
3. Click the button.
4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
6. This will open a new window File Upload.
7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
10. Close the window and then click Submit.

Thanks for the tip and explanation.. I've reduced a lot the file, so maybe you or someone else could give me a hand on this one!!

Hi

Best way for me anyway. What I did was highlight columns 1 and 2. Advanced filter copy to new location unique values only. Ensure that copied is a range not a table. Click anywhere in the new range go to the data tab outline select subtotal change sum to count and that will give you the answers you need.
