Alter cell appearence to a non-rectangular shape

I have a situation where I would like to change the cell border to a non-rectangular shape.

Imagine an Excel sheet set in the default mode. I want any nominated cell to appear as "a rectangle with a half round shape on each end". Note that this shape would appear as a border with no joint-line where the half-round meets the rectangle. Any fill colour should be contained within this border.

(Easy to draw but hard to describe)
It's my first post so please be kind!

Re: Alter cell appearence to a non-rectangular shape

Hi faraway and welcome to the forum

If you are asking if it is possible to change the actual shape of cells in a worksheet (you mentioned 1/2 round, but it could have been full-round or oval or hexagon?), then no, this is not possible.

You could however, add a "shape" over the cell, by selecting insert from the ribbon, then picking a shape from "shapes" and positioning/sizing as needed.

    Hope this answers you're question?
