Calculation & copying formula, with example!

Hi everyone, I'm now required to start using Excel full time as I'm graduating in 3 months. So I imagine I'll be back :D

My issue is an Excel and maths problem. I need to create this table:-

task completed (replacing files, template edits) Time taken (0:15secs - 2 mins) and Cost (all tasks cost 1.25 per minute)

    Task--------------------Time -------Cost
    Replacement edit ---- 0:45secs ---- ??

My best guess would be work out the cost per second- 0.028p, multiply it by time taken and then Alt+e+s+f to copy the formula down. Any cleaner way?

    Thanks!

Re: I know its simple but have a go...

    Time taken (0:15 secs - 2 mins)
-> is this 0 seconds to 15 sec no payment? meaning the time to be paid is after 15 seconds...

    Edit: Never mind

Over 100 views and no replies. I thought this was easy? Perhaps too easy?

It would probably also help if you posted an example workbook.

It would be a lot easier if you posted a workbook rather than a picture - from that I can't even see which columns and rows your figures are in, so it's hard to advise you of a formula to use.

With respect, how does that makes a difference? All needed info is there, I noted the columns and rows in my OP; that photo is the whole thing.

Unless you actually can't make out the photo.. but then again the values aren't important.

We have price and time- what is the calculation? That's really it. Thanks again

If you post a workbook you're asking us to help solve your problem.

If you post an image you're asking us to retype your data and then solve the problem.

As you've astutely observed the cost is the price multiplied by the time, so you should go ahead and do that.

That's the problem with posting pictures, rather thn Excel files, you can't see the formatting and other missing goodies ...

Re: Calculation & copying formula, with example!

Thanks a lot for that Marcol

The time column shows the values as clock time. So 00:45 seconds in F2 is 12:00:45AM. I tried the 'shift + ctrl + !' shortcut, to change it to number but that messed up. Same when I tried shift + crtl + ~ to change to general ?

Also, I still don't get the formula =B2*60*24*$E$2 what is the 24?

    Appreciate it chap!
