    Unhappy Compatability Mode

I'm writing a spreadsheet in Excel 2007, in compatability mode 2003, however it still lets me use formats/colours that are not compatable and just warns me when saving or using the Prepare/Compatability Check feature.
If i save the document and re-open it i still see in 2007 the 2007 [incompatable] colours.

How can i make it so that in 2007 i can ONLY select colours/formats that are compatabile in the first place.
I do not seem to be able to see, in 2007, how the sheet will look in 2003.

    Can this be done?
I simply want to be able to only select compatable formats in the first place.

    Thanks for reading.

I don't think there is away to do what you're looking for. But ... I share documents with people who still use 2003, and even Office 2000. When they open the file the formatting might look a bit different but they didn't know how it looked in the first place and it still looks fine. As far as colors. I haven't seen any solid colors that looked different. You might stay away from transitioning between two colors in the same cell. It might looks good in 2007, but not so much in the older versions. Personally, I don't really concern myself with how it looks in 2003. Most decision makers moved away from 2003 years ago.
