Very basic Excel formula question (sorry)

I'm trying to create what is probably a very basic Excel file that would show people a proposed increase on their sewer bills.

First column is numbers (by 5) from 5-300. I want second column to increase that by 7.14 percent, third column to increase THE SECOND COLUMN by 7.14 percent, and the fourth column to increase THE THIRD COLUMN by 3.14 percent.

In other words, how do I add a certain percentage to a column?

    Thanks for any help.

    Alec

Fill those formulas down columns B, C, and D Respectively and you should have the numbers you are looking for.

Ah, yes! Thanks so much. I was trying to figure out a way to ADD the percentage. Didn't think about multiplying. I really appreciate it.

One more question: Do I need to manually change the formula on each line, or is there a way to have it insert a1, a2, a3, a4, etc., on its way down?

When you fill the cells down it will automatically change the cells it references. Write the formulas in the first cells.. Then highlight as far down the spreadsheet as you want starting with the cells with the formulas in them. Once selected press CTRL+D. There are many ways to fill down. This is the one I use.
