Why I am being kicked out from Excel (ver. 2010) when I tried to update a pivot data

    Hi Excel Forum

I have created a pivot table in Excel 2010 using some initial source data (say source data set name is X).

Then I extracted some more data from the warehouse and my source data got expanded (say now the source data set name is Y).

I have overwritten the source dataset X in pivot table by Y.

    1. Then I clicked "change data source" icon in toolbar.

    2. A dialogue box then appeared.

    3. Then I highlighted the Y data range and cliked "OK"

    Question:
I was immediately prompted back from Excel (i.e. I was completely kicked out of Excel).
I have tried this 5 to 6 times, it is frustating still I am being kicked out.

    Could anyone help me.

    Thanks

Have you tried copying the data into a new tab before changing the data source? Then when the changing of the data source is complete you can remove the other data.

    Regards

    Hi Duncan,
Thank you for your valuable idea.

I have tried it, but still I am being kicked out.

    Thanks
