    My Excel 2010 is backwards???

    Hi all,

For some unknown, to me, reason, when I open Excel, my blank sheet is bacward! In other words, my "A1" cell is in the the top right corner instead of the top left corner where, up until now, it's always been. No matter how much digging around I've done, I didn't see anything that would indicate this...

I've been a light/casual user of Excell since version '97. This has never happened before. Of course, since I don't have a clue as to what caused this, I surely don't know how to fix this setting (at least, that's all I hope this is)

Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

    From Microsoft Office website:

On the Tools menu, click Options, click the International tab, and select or clear the View current sheet right-to-left check box.

    Try this:

File >> Options >> Advanced >> scroll down 3/4 of the way >> Under the header "Display options for this worsheet" >> uncheck "Show sheet right-to-left"

Slightly off-topic, but still kinda funny - I once set a buddy's screen to up-side-down...man does that take some fancy mouse-work to fix, everything is "mirrored" lol

Ctrl + Alt + Down Arrow <-- no mouse needed to fix an upside down screen. =)

I walked through Best Buy one day and set all of their computer screens to upside down... took me all of less than a minute to do it. Standing back and watching as the customers and staff tried to figure out what was wrong was priceless.

I'm now using Excel 2010, as far as I know, there are no menus. Not any of the ribbon-tabs has a "tools" tab either.

However, I simulated your response by opening the " home " ribbon-tab and then selecting the 'Language' option. There, I was able to change 2 settings to make 'English' as the default, thinking those settings may be what's needed, but BZZZT, nope.

Found this with a Google search. I can't see it on my computer since I don't have a language that can use R2L layout, but clearly you do:

That was it!! Yippee!! Thank you so much!!

BTW, you may already know, there are 2 of these settings, one for 'Book1' & one for 'Sheet1'. Somehow or other, both of these were originally set wrong in my view settings. I changed them both, then clicked <ok>.

My sheet was back to normal after that! Now, I can continue. Thanx again!

Thanx for your efforts, Moo. Thankfully this problem has been solved!

As for having a language that can use R2L layout; however this version of Excel shipped is the language settings that are now set. I haven't knowingly changed anything of that sort, just paths & minor cosmetic settings.

Clearly, something(wished I knew what) changed that affected the R2L settings. If _I_ did it, it was an accidedent and something that I'm unaware of.

How these settings got changed is a complete mystery to me, as I remember the layout being L2R(normal) initially.
