delete columns alternating

Hello guys
I would like to select alternate columns in excel 2013 or 2010. Does anyone know any way to do this?
After selecting these columns I will need alternate delete them.

insert a row at the top
put =MOD(COLUMN(),2) fill across until last column
select all the data then sort by row 1 smallest to largest
all the ones that were 0 will be on the left all the ones that were 1 will be on the right then just select that group of columns that you wish to be rid of and delete
