How to copy and paste whole sheets

I've got a file with 75 sheets. Each sheet consists of a fairly elaborate header (logo, other design elements, etc.) and columns of data. I'd like to remove each sheet from this "master" file and copy it to its own file. But when I do this, the formatting is all screwed up- the logo and designs are distorted. I tried to adjust the row width and column height to fix it, but it doesn't come out the same (plus it takes forever). Is there a fast and easy way to copy each sheet onto its own file sheet? Hope this makes sense- thanks so much!

Hi and welcome to the forum

1 way would be to click on the small triangle between the 1 and the A - this will select the entire sheet - then press CTRL X (cut), go to the new file, select A1 and ENTER

Another way - maybe the easiest/best way - is to 1st make sure you have the new file open, then in the file you want to T/Fer the sheet FROM, right-click on the sheet name, select Move or Copy, select your new file from the To Book drop-down, select where you want it, and select OK. The sheet will be moved (removed) from the old W/B and transferred, as-is, to the new 1
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Re: How to copy and paste whole sheets

Hey FDibbins,

Thanks for the quick reply and suggestions. I think I may have a problem with version compatibility because when I copy/paste it the numbers are "whited out" on the sheet I'm transferring to. The header shows up smushed but the numbers are gone. What's interesting is that when I first paste or move the old sheet to the new, I can see the numbers under the blue highlighting, but as soon as I click on anything the numbers are gone. I'll try this again when I can use the same version- I think the file is in 2003 and I'm pasting onto 2007.

version should not make a difference with the copy (or cut)/paste - and gowing from 2003 to 2007 wont even cause any problems with the formulas

lets try this...
1. open a brand-new blank workbook
2. go to the "source" file, to the 1st sheet you want to move
3. click in the square above row 1 and to the left of column A
4. press CTRL X
5. select the new file, cell A1
5. press CTRL V (or enter, both should work)

Thanks again for the help. It's still not working. Screenshot attached- this is what it looks like immediately after pasting. As soon as I click anywhere on the sheet, the white numbers disappear. The header info remains but it changes color. Kind of bizarre!Excel issue.doc
