    Copying sheets to new files

    I've got a spreadsheet made up of a Document Map and 100 sheets. I'd like to copy each sheet to its own file while retaining the name of each sheet, but I can't figure out how to retain the name- I get "Book 1" instead. Any help would be appreciated- thanks!

    Thanks for the reply blue.chio. But I don't know the first thing about how to set up what you described. I suspect that your way would be the fastest, but is there a slower way that I might be able to figure out (i.e. more of a manual method to copy and paste each sheet while retaining the name of each sheet)? The sheet names are loooong which is why I'm trying to avoid having to type them over again.

    Many thanks.

    yeah, it might be...
    open a new file, save it as you want;
    open your file from where you want to copy the sheet;
    from here:right click on the desired tab, choose move or copy, select sheet, below tick the box "create a copy", above you can see a small black triangle, click on it and choose the new file, ok!

    or see the test file attached with a vba solution. you need to have macro enabled.

    Thanks again blue. Still having the same issue in that it seems I have to retype the name of the original file onto the new file, which I'm trying to avoid as the original file names are long. More likely, I'm just doing something wrong. I have no problem copying sheets to new files, it's the naming issue that's hanging me up.

    if you have 100 sheets and you want to save each sheet into a new file I recommand to use vba, is not so difficult, you need to start somehow, sometimes...then you'll love it! lol
    just try, open the file attached, save it on yr desktop and click the button!

    Ok thanks blue- I'll give it a shot. It's just kind of daunting as I'm totally new to all this.
