This is my first post so I'm really sorry if I'm asking an obvious question!
I’m trying to create a budget in Excel.
Every week I want to spend £100. I have four types of expenditure: Food, Travel, Weekend and Other. Say I plan to spend £25 on each, and provisionally enter that into the budget
Please entertain a few scenarios…
I buy a week’s train card for £25 on Monday – all fine and dandy, I don’t need to update the budget. But then it’s Tuesday and I have to catch a bus to a friend’s house, spending £3. I want to be able to then update my travel cell to £28, and have all the other cells adjust so that I know now I can’t spend £25 on my weekend, but £24, and the same for travel and other.
Equally, if one week I get lots of discounts at the supermarket and only spend £19, I want to be able to see that on the weekend, travel and other I now have £27 to play with.
Is there a way to do that?
