    VLOOKUP and A*

    Morning,

I am using a vlookup to change school grades into point scores, using the formula:

    =IFERROR(VLOOKUP('Y13'!R2,LOOKUP!$D$2:$E$8,2),"")

'Y13'!R2 is where the grade is
LOOKUP!$D$2:$E$8 is where the grade to point table is

This works fine for all the grades with the exception of A* (which is in D2 of the table) as it just returns the points for an A grade.

Is there anyway to change this?

    Thanks

    Use

In your lookup range (D2:E8) ensure that A* is above A. Then use

    =IFERROR(VLOOKUP('Y13'!R2,LOOKUP!$D$2:$E$8,2,FALSE),"")

    for an exact match

    Re: VLOOKUP and A*

why not just lookup instead of two functions vlookup then lookup?

    something like

    =LOOKUP(A1,{0,75,80,85,90,95},{"F","E","D","C","A","A+"})
I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???
