How to report real statistics in excel

I have managed to produce charts using the filter on excel for my survey results.

The problem that I am now faced with it how to report the REAL results for example:

The two groups I am comparing are male and female.

19 females replied to my survey and 6 males replied.

However, in percentage terms I cannot meaningfully compare the results with such a huge difference in respondents. ( I have attached an example).

Is there a function on excel that I can calculate these different percentages to make a sensible comparison. For example in the attached document it looks like 50% of males said that people should face disciplinary action and 32% of females picked this option. However with the responses being based on 6 males and 19 females I cannot say that more males than females selected this.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thank you

Please add an excel file, without confidential information.

Please also add the desired (expected) result.
Notice my main language is not English.

I have added the original spreadsheet plus two others showing the female responses and the males. I suppose my question is how to I compare the results of both groups in a meaningful way when I had 19 females respond an 6 males?

    I hope this makes sense.

Re: How to report real statistics in excel

When I read your title, my first thought was for those statisticians who would say, "you cannot get 'real' statistics out of Excel." and "Friends don't let friends use Excel for statistics."

My second thought was -- is this a statistics question or an Excel question? We are good with Excel, and, if you tell us what statistical test you want to run or what test statistic you want to calculate, we can probably help you. If you need someone to help you decide what statistical test should be run, I'm not sure if we are good enough statisticians to help you make that determination.

I can only think of three test statistics that are preprogrammed into Excel: Chisquare, t-test, and z-test. You might look through the list of statistical functions to see if there are others http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ma...in=HA102927824
This might help you see other statistical tests preprogrammed into Excel http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...762.aspx?CTT=1

If none of these statistical tests is suitable for your analysis, but you can point us to some educational material for the test you want to use, we should be able to help you figure out how to get it into Excel.

    Thank you Mr Shorty

I will take a look at the options in your reply.

I think I need to go away and think a bit more about what I want to report and how.

    Best regards

    Hi oeldere

No this is a different question. I have worked out how to do what was needed on the other question. I am now stuck on how to compare/publish a true and reliable comparison of my figures .

    Thanks
