Check the number format of the cells - you may have some numbers stored as text.
let Source = #table({"Question","Thread", "User"},{{"Answered","Mark Solved", "Add Reputation"}}) in Source

format seems to be numbers , although it will not let me put decimal places on either
are you referring to the function in 2007 and later that when you highlight a column it shows the average, count and sum at the bottom of the spreadsheet?

yes have right clicked on cell , number option is highlighted blue
Ok - can you attach your workbook, please?
yes i normally click on the top cell and drag it down to get the total but it is not adding up , i have checked the format and it is number format
have attached sample
ps the workbook is massive , problem column is n235 : n293
In cells N283, N285 etc you are returning numbers as text - e.g. "1574" instead of 1574.
you will have to excuse me being an idiot but how can i tell this
yes i see what you mean i need to take the "" off in the formulas is that correct
Have a look at the formula in cell N235:

I have highlighted in red the quotation marks, which mean your numbers as being treated as text. Remove those quotation marks, and you'll get numbers, which you can then add up as you wish.
great thank you
