    Conditional Formatting for TODAY

    Hi,
I am using Conditional Formatting and want to know what formula I would use if I wanted a value that is =to the current month. I'm using a drop down list that contains only the names of each month. The result of the drop down selection is appearing in a column that I want to format. So, G1=JANUARY. Since JANUARY is not the current month, I will be applying the format to alert the user that something is overdue.

I cannot attach a workbook unfortunately.

    Thank you!

Which column contains your dates, and do you have a header row so the data starts from row 2?

They would start at J5:J26. The header is at J4

    Re: Conditional Formatting for TODAY

Highlight those cells J5:J26 starting with J5, then click on Conditional Formatting | New Rule | Use a formula... , then enter this formula in the dialogue box:

    =AND(J5<>"",TEXT(J5,"mmmm")<>$G$1)

Then click the Format button, choose the Fill tab and select your colour. Then OK your way out and Excel will automatically adjust the cell references to suit the highlighted cells.

    Hope this helps.
