How do you make a chart using Text Data??? (Macro??)

I have read quite a few tutorials but none of them really reference what I am trying to achieve. Essentially I have one column with 2 options: "Compliance" and "Improvement". I am trying to make a dynamic chart based on the number of occurrences. From my understanding you need to use a "Named Range" and "Count" but I can not find any information on how you combine the two to make a chart.

    Hi,

Named ranges are usually to be preferred, and if you're wanting to express the number of occurrences of something in a chart then one way or another you'll need to establish the count of such things.

There are basically two options, using a function like COUNTIF() or using a Pivot Table, and on the back of the PT a Pivot chart. For more detailed help you'll need to upload the workbook in question.

    (PSM-14-02) PSAudit v2.5.xlsm

    Richard,

Attached is the workbook. Data is found in columnO of WS "Recommendations". I am trying to make a dynamic range using the two values "Compliance" or "Improvement" showing the occurences.

    Hi,

Not sure if this is what you want but

    Define the name 'RecType' as

    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

Then wherever you need the count use formulae like

    Formula: copy to clipboard
