conditional formatting can not keep original colour

    hi
I am having problems with conditional formatting,on sheet1 ,if column "n" is yes then it is coloured red, when I search database say f124 I would like all records for f124 to appear and keep column "n" red or even better the whole row red,it seems just to locate all records with "n" =no and all orange /brown colour, any ideas would be good
    cheers colin

    Hello,

It didn't look as if you had the formatting applied correctly across each row. Usually you can apply all rules to row a3 to s3, then copy that same range, then highlight all used cell rows and paste the formatting.

Because you did not explain in detail what words each color represents I'm not sure if N = No then blue or what should be blue so I just applied it as blue. Take a look at the attached. If you need to adjust just click cell A3 and conditional formatting. When you apply it will apply to all rows.

Let me know how it goes.

Re: conditional formatting can not keep original colour

    hi
thanks for the response, that look good what you have done, but say if you enter d213 into textbox top left,it seem to only pick out rows containing n=no,where as it is supposed to pick up all rows containing d213,my question is when it does a search why does it not pick all rows containing d213 and because the search format is a brown/orange colour could all rows containing d213 and yes be in red,as these are the preferred equipment
    hope this explains better
    cheers colin

Because D213 cell does not have the rgb color value of RGB(247, 150, 70) it will not show because your text box change code is set to only display results with that background color. Coded as Criteria1:=RGB(247, 150, 70)

Please see the attached. I've removed the color from the filter criteria so that it pulls all data matching the text being that the color criteria seems not to be a factor really needed in filtering.
