Compatibility issues with loading a Microsoft Excel 2004 VBA / Macros workbook onto my Mac

I am trying to load a Microsoft Excel 2004 workbook, that has both Macros and VBA, onto my Mac which has Mac Excel 2010. I enable macros, and allow content to be downloaded but still get errors and the program will not run correctly. The person who wrote the program for me says that my Mac will not support the workbook..... but he's not an expert in Mac

Well, without more details, it is difficult to determine your issue. Suggest you post your code, your error message and which line is highlighted when you debug the code. Additionally, you may want to upload a copy (sanitized for confidential information) your workbook for analysis.

Excel 2010 is a Windows version. Do you run it in a virtual machine, or is it Excel 2011 you are using?

I would be totally willing to upload the workbook, but how do I do that? Do I just attach it with a reply? Do it go confidentially right to you?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

Thank you so much for your help! I am not advanced enough in Excel to really understand what you want me to do, but i can tell you this. Th workbook runs perfectly on a PC, but has errors on my Mac. If I just attach the whole thing to you, can you run it and see all the errors and everything you need? Sorry about that

I work in a PC environment, but we have people here that also work in a MAC environment. Hopefully, someone with that expertise will be helpful, but until they actually see the file, there is no way to determine the issue. Follow the instructions above for uploading the file. Please clarify which version of Excel you are using. See Izandol's comment in post #3.

I work in a Mac environment. From the description in post #6, it sound like the original would be written on a PC and is having trouble being loaded onto a Mac. (Although the OP seems to say that the situation is reversed.)
My guess is that there are some ActiveX controls (which Mac does not support).
But the file would tell us for sure what is going on.

I have attached a screenshot of what version Excel I have. My excel program is not uploading, and I don't know why. Would you be able to send me an email so that I could email it to you? Thank you! Peter

Your file may be to big. Try running a zip program and then uploading it or make the file smaller so that it has only a representative sample and not the whole data.

Ugh! I zipped the file and it is now down to 2.5MB, but when I try to upload it I get an error that just says filed to upload document.

I do not think screenshot was required - first line does say Excel for Mac 2011. Without workbook it will be difficult to find what the problem may be. (Excel 2004 will only run on PowerPC and must use Rosetta emulation on Intel PC but I do not think that workbook structure could actually be different)

You might very well be right. Thank you so much for responding. I am no expert on Excel at all, and wish I knew more. Is there anyway that you could give me a email address so that I could send the workbook to you? I have tried to zip and it still won't upload. There is no virus or anything attached. It is a workbook that I paid for from Revere Trading. It is to be used to back test different stock trading strategies. I hope there is a way to send it to you.

    Thanks so much!

    Peter
