Help to hide worksheet from view and make invisible to other users of workbook

Dear all. I have a workbook that has many viewers and contributors. I ideally wish to have one worksheet in that book - containing sensitive information - totally hidden from all other users and non-discoverable. Can this be done without macros? If not - which I suspect is the case - could somebody write and post a short macro that does this? Is it possible to also password protect that worksheet for double protection?

As I have never written / inserted VBA into a workbook, could some guidance as to how to insert the code be also provided?

    Your help greatly appreciated!

Thanks for you help and this looks very useful. Just to be very clear - if someone looks in the VBA editor, will they be able to see the hidden sheet in the Properties list...so even if they cannot open it they still know that the sheet exists....and if they know the sheet is there and know the name of it they can create references to that sheet and therefore replicate the data that is hidden away....is that right???

Excel is not the safest "tool" . Everyone that his excel knowledge is good enough can break any protection.

So in your case when you do what ranman256 suggested, you could also do this.

Click on menu TOOL | VBAProject Properties and under the TAB "Protection", Check the box "Lock Project for Viewing" and enter the password.

Save and exit the Excel file. When you open it next the vba project will be hidden.

Hello Fotis - many thanks or your reply. Apologies for my late response as I have been away. Can I ask a follow-on question to your posting? I followed your instruction to "Lock Project for Viewing" and saved and exited...but when I next opened the file and accessed the 'hidden' tab, it did not ask me for a password. Do I have to save the file within the VBA editor? Forgive this very basic question but I have no experience in this area.

    Thanks again

Hi Fotis - thanks again for your attention. Yes I did lock it with a password...just to repeat, I am a complete novice with anything to do with VBA so not sure if there is something very simple that you would assume I know that, in fact I do not, and am not doing.....
