Merge Selected cells and shift column contents Left

I have the code below to merge selected cells in one row and then shift the cells to the right of selected cells to the left. The only problem is that if I select cells in more than one row, it merges all of the selected cells in different rows to one cell. Any ideas to modify this to only merge within each respective row? Thanks.

I found another piece of code that merges cells based on selection in each row, but does not delete and shift the cells.
