Check out excel protected file from sharepoint

Anyone know how should i write the code to check out a password protected excel file in sharepoint?
I used workbooks.checkout(filename) method btw.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, i have been researching for 3 days but still no result. Basically what i want to do is to check out the file and close it, and then i will use my newly generated file to replace that file.
I can't replace the file if its not checked out yet..can i?

A way to delete the file on sharepoint might also work for me, i have tried to use Kill function but it keeps "Run time Error-53" file not found. Thanks in advance for any kind of help
