[SOLVED] Counting Delimited Unique Strings and Removing Duplicates

Hello,

This is my first post. This forum has been an amazing resource for me and one day I hope to be masterful enough to advise others here.


Two part question.

First, I need to count instances of unique strings in a semi-colon delimited cell, and remove duplicates.


i.e.

brand1;brand1;brand1;brand2;brand3;brand3

should turn into

brand1 (3); brand2 (1); brand3 (2)

Second, I need to determine the most common category of the brands and put that into the next column.


There is a list of brands on a seperate sheet ("Sheet2"), with brands in Column A and their category in Column B.

For instance, in the example, brand1 is perfume, brand2 is perfume, and brand 3 is make up, so the next column (to the right) should say "Perfume".


i.e.

brand1 (3); brand2 (1); brand3 (2) | Perfume

This has been a mad task for me to solve, but hopefully I can get some help from you guys.
