Trying to keep prices from updating unless told.

Hello,

I am in the process of creating time and material sheets to use where i work.

Our database updates a excel sheet regularly with updated pricing. My sheet searches that updated sheet by article number, then inserts the description, price and totals the page.

I am looking for someway to make the sheet find the description automatically, but not pull the Net price unless told to do so (maybe a button to click). The reason being, is if we re-open the saved excel sheet 6 months from now we want the prices to stay the same as when entered 6 months ago, and not to update and show what the current prices are.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have not looked at your workbook, but 2 things come to mind...
1. set calcs to manual (probably not the best way to do this)
2. have a helper column/cell somewhere, that, unless it contains a certain value, the other formulas wont update. The other formulas will obviously have to reference that cell
