Change cell color based on a condition

Hello -

I am developing an add-in that performs a number of operations. One of those operations is to check whether or not the number of characters contained in any cell in column A exceeds 24. If so, I merely want to highlight those cells in yellow. I need to 'Do Until' every cell in column A that contains data has been validated. A sample workbook with some data is attached.

Can you not use conditional formatting? just highlight all the cells and use the highlight cell rules, greater than 24

No because this procedure is going to be part of an Add-In that will be used to perform the same operation on thousands of workbooks that are in distribution to users. All of the workbook are based on a single template so the column references will always be same no matter which workbook I am validating. Make sense?
