How to Run an XLSM file without excel?

    friends,

I have created a macro in an Excel file and saved it as XLSM file. Now I need to open it in a system which is not having MS office.

What are alternative options to open and run the XLSM file without Microsoft Excel? I have installed Open Office but while opening the XLSM file, it is just showing loading...loading....loading.... How can I open the XLSM file with Open Office or with any other free softwares which can run an XLSM file?

    You have three options:-

    Use Portable Ms-Office

    Or

You have to depend on alternative free softwares like LibreOffice / Open Office like that...

    Or

If that system have Internet connection then you can Open it in Microsoft One Drive or in Google Spreadsheet

If it has a macro in it that you need to run, you can't.

It needs Excel installing, there is no way round this

Other possible alternatives, if you are willing to consider them:

    1) Figure out how to do what you are doing without a macro. That will make your spreadsheet more "cross platform" compatible.
    2) Purchase a stand-alone license to visual basic. Then you can adapt your VBA code to VB and compile your code into an executable file.
    3) Learn OpenOffice's macro language (Python I think) and write your macros in that language. Of course, this means you will need to develop your spreadsheet project in OpenOffice rather than Excel (because Excel will not know how to handle Python).

Option 1 will create the most "cross platform" friendly spreadsheet, though it limits you to spreadsheet functions only.
Since something like OpenOffice is freely availabe to anyone who can download the application, option 3 might be a good option (though, as anathema as it might be on an Excel forum, it might help break Microsoft's "monopoly" on spreadsheet programs, because you wouldn't need or use Excel at all if you go that route).
