show and overide format of text box

    Hi Forum,

What i am looking to do is to add an input to the serial number text box, Which A ) shows the format numbers are to be entered when cell is selected and B) be able to override those numbers as data is entered. The style of data is based upon the selection of the combo box meter type.

I have sort of done something, but this only adds the style to be entered, I am sure there must be a better way.

    workbook attached.

    to code Mark Equipment_Stock.xlsm

hopefully someone can elighten me. :-)

I assumed this is what you want. This is the best I can get it to.

Remove the TBserial_Change sub in Userform2, and add these code:

Ok that sort of works. allows me to input numbers but does not display a change from 0 to the number. perhaps if i use something other than the 000-000 etc etc, maybe a star or some other character , might that help. so trying to get it when tab is pressed it shows the requirement of data to be entered then as its entered it overrides whats there.

Sorry I have no idea what you mean. It is supposed to overwrite the format in there as you type in.
Maybe you didn't put the code in properly, try this workbook. It is only applied to userform2, your submit stock form.
Note that any keys other than numbers will be ignored, including backspace/delete. I have amended the code to allow tab and return to be pressed.
