vba to check if picture is present?

I have a sub that runs with the worksheetchange event, but once a picture is placed, I do not want that part of the sub to be run thru. I tried the following, but it freezes or locks up the workbook. Can anyone help with the correct code? thanks in advance!

Did some research on internet and about the only thing that comes close that kind of works is this. Not exactly what I was looking for, but works if nothing else does.

Add some code to the routine that places the images and store a true/false in some assigned cells.
The all you need to do is check the relevant cells.
