Macro for adding a number to a cell determined by a vlookup

Hi all,
Really hope someone can help.
Putting together a spread sheet for entering the results of a school sports carnival.
Want to be able to enter a student number into a cell then click a button for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd that activates a macro to cumulatively add the respective number of points onto their score. Having trouble with the macro if anyone can help.

Sorry. Just to clarify.
Student number 7 comes 2nd.
On the spreadsheet are a list of students with their associated numbers and scores.
There is a cell where the number 7 can be entered whereby a vlookup can access their score which is say 10.
There are 3 buttons on the page for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. When the 2nd button is clicked I want it to add 2 points onto their score so it is now 12 and clear the cell where 7 was entered.
