Active X no longer working on some PC's

    Hi

i have a workbook which used to work. However i am now getting an "object doesn't support this property or method" error. All i'm trying to do is return the value of an active x check box?

    is this right way?

If this just started happening, it may be related to a recent Microsoft update.
    Try this:
Search your hard drive for *.exd and delete every matching file
or...if you're reluctant to delete them: Rename them. If that fixes it...delete them.

    Does that help?

(BTW...ActiveX controls have some annoying and unpredictable down-sides. I stopped using them years ago in favor of forms controls)

Ron, you are my hero. A thousand thanks. **Kneeling and bowing**

Microsoft update just killed my ActiveX combo boxes -- on a shared computer, and the failure occurs on my user profile only; on my PC only. No restore point available. (I just renamed the only *.exd file in my C drive and fixed the problem. What will it harm, I wonder?)

    Fixed now... but:
If you have a form control that can help to autopopulate as typing; filling several fields on the same sheet, accessing another sheet in the workbook, let me know!

    Unfortunately, I don't
I got tired of complaints by my users that the models I built suddenly started acting strangely.
So...I chose to work *with* Excel, not against it.

(ActiveX controls are like the little girl with the curl down her forehead: when she's nice she's very nice...but when she's BAD, she's VERY, VERY BAD!)

No problem mate - I had this same issue at the beginning of the week and found that deleting my temp folder resolved the issue as that seems to be where the .exd files are kept
