Question Anyone know how I can get a workbook with macro's to work over a VPN connection?

I have a workbook, less than 800kb in size, but it won't open over a VPN connection, from what I read, I guess its because it has macros in it, so its a security issue im guessing. Does anyone know of another way that I can get it to open from a VPN connection? Thanks

What do you mean by "won't open" ? What exactly happens when you try to open it?

Can you copy it from it's network location to your hard drive? Does it open then?

It tries to open, and will eventually, but only like after 10 minutes, and then it don't really work correctly. I haven't tried to copy it to local drive, because its a shared file, and we don't want multiple copies going around. Its set up like a schedule of products to make, and the guy who makes the schedule wants to be able to change it from home. The file is always open at the workplace, so the operators know what to make. So the schedule guy will "also" be opening the file, while its already open at work... If that makes since.

Sounds like you need to talk to your network administrator. It's not an Excel problem.

After doing some testing, it has nothing to do with the macros, it has to do with it being a shared workbook. Any shared workbook takes forever to open over the VPN. Anyone know what would need changed on our VPN to make it work much quicker?

What would need changed? More bandwidth may help, but not using a shared workbook would be much better.

Some advice for using shared workbooks: Never use shared workbooks. They suck, you lose functionality, and eventually they all corrupt. More hassle than they're worth. If you need shared data, find a proper multi-user solution.
