filter pivot table for items in a list in another workbook if found

I have a list of fruits in one workbook (filter_workbook attached) and a pivot table in another (pivot_workbook attached). Some of the fruits listed in filter_workbook are not found in the pivot field "fruit"

I want a script to run through my list of fruits in 'filter_values' in filter_workbook, try to find them in the field "fruit" in PivotTable2 on 'pivot' of pivot_workbook and if they are found to make them visible. Right now they are all visible, after running the script i only want the ones listed in filter_values to be visible. If they are not found they should be ignored.

    thanks in advance!

    got it.

it doesn't seem to like the fact that "apple" is in the first row - finds "pineapple" instead and then turns apple invisible since apple <> pineapple... but i added a blank row in my filter data and it works perfectly.

p.s. i got most of my answer from:
