    complicated vlookup between three workbooks

    hello

    i have three workbooks,
    1st called master.xlsx
    2nd called data.xl
    3rd called data1.xslx

in data column A has a list of numbers
in data1. there are 8 sheets (named 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) with column A also having a list of numbers

in the master, sheet1 column A, i need to lookup between data and data1,
if data1 has a number in any of the sheets, thats in data column A, then put the number in master column A

    this possible? thanks in advance

    It could be much easier.

But now you use a simple vlookup formula like in single workbook
    select reference with your mouse.
    Workbooks should remain open.

    It will work.

If not getting then attach sample file as zip

Matching across multiple sheets is easy enough. Matching betwen workbooks is OK too. But... I got bogged down with INDIRECT formulas, trying to combine them. So, if all else fails; try BF&I*

Download and ensure that they're all in the same directory.
